When an anonymous couple in South Carolina sold their beloved home they’d owned for 32 years, it seemed as though everything was in order. Paperwork, repairs, and packing had all been completed–or so they thought. A few days after the sale was finalized, James and Clarrisa Munford unearthed treasure that had remained unbeknownst to the previous owners–50 silver and gold coins, their value estimated at about $15,000.
Legally, the treasure was now the property of the Munfords, who had every right to avoid drawing attention to it and enjoy the profits of such luck. Being the Good Samaritans they are, however, the pair contacted the sellers to return the coins.
“There is an old saying: ‘You reap what you sow,’” said the original owner, astonished. “My wife and I spent a great deal of time and effort to ensure that we left our home in excellent condition for the Munfords, and one good deed was certainly returned by another!”
